The Work of Alena Matějka and Lars Widenfalk in Photographs

7 October - 30 November 2017

The exhibition is a loose continuation of the Glass Interviews Exhibition which presents photographs of the artwork of the leading Czech glassmaker and sculptor Alena Matějka, PhD. ( www.alenamatejka.com ) and her husband, the Swedish sculptor Lars Widenfalk. Both are internationally recognized artists, a married couple who reside and create in Sweden, Italy and also near Kamenice nad Lipou; they share an interest in similar materials like stone and glass but also ice and snow.

Among the photos of the unique glass artworks of Alena Matějka are a large glass table with a pig's head and legs, a cabinet with bones of mythical animals or an angel, as well as the author's favorite combination of glass and stuffed animals.

The art historian and architect Lars Widenfalk is considered one of those who brought figurative work back to Nordic art, his most famous work being the black violin "Blackbird", made of dolerite based on a design by Antonio Stradivari, and is fully functional. No lesser known is the Blue Lady, photos of both artworks are also presented. The photographs of the artworks are by Alena Matějka, Lars Widenfalk, Gabriel Urbánek and Karel Probošt.
